As many of you know, Brawl has been hacked to increase it’s entertainment value as well as its role in tournaments. There are currently 3 different versions of Brawl out to this day: Brawl [Original], Brawl+, and Balanced Brawl. Most of us have played the original Brawl and have realized some of its pros and cons: MK’s whorenado, Falcon’s Knee of Justice [or lack there of], Snake’s tilts, and maybe even how terrible our beloved Dark Wizard Ganondorf is. Brawl+ and Balanced Brawl are modified versions of the game released by hackers and our fellow smash enthusiasts.
Brawl+
Brawl+ is a modification of Brawl made by the fanboys of the preceeding smash game: Melee. This mod introduces the best attempts to remake the physics of Melee and put them into Brawl. Many Brawl+ players think highly of the game, and will insult the players of the original game giving it the nickname vBrawl which stands for Vanilla Brawl. Although I find vanilla tastey, they have decided to use it as an insulting term. Some major changes include: Increased hitstun, changes in character moves, modifications of frames, increased fall speed, and the effect of keeping momentum from a dash into a jump. If you are interested the Offical site for Brawl+ follows the post.
Balanced Brawl
This extremely new edition of brawl was introduced just as the title states: Balanced. I don’t have much to say about this due to the fact that it came out this past Tuesday. I have actually downloaded and tried this version, and let me just say this: It’s pretty interesting. This modification of the Origianl Brawl includes several buffs and nerfs to specific characters as well as some characters not changing at all. This also includes changes similar to Brawl+, but does not change any physics of the original game. Probably the biggest and most facinating change [to me at least], was the modification of our favorite antagonist: Ganondorf. His dtilt will trip more than half of the time, the after effect of his up special [if barely missing] will kill at EXTREMELY low %’s [Kills Marth at 43% (no DI)], his down special has added spike-like characteristics to all of it’s frames during the aerial version, and his pummel looks pretty cool. It also replaces the stage ‘Hanenbow’ with the Wifi Training room stag, although it still has sandbag which will interfere with a battle. It also decreases the speed of dynamic stages to 2/3s of their original speed. Link will be posted at end.
Overall I think Brawl has been hacked enough and needs a break.
